Road closure from 21 March for 5 days

As you are aware highway improvement works are currently underway on Gore Street. This Bee Network scheme, funded through the Mayor’s Challenge Fund, will help to establish a comprehensive network of walking and cycling routes and enhance public spaces in Salford city centre.

The scheme will create safer spaces for pedestrians and cyclists with better facilities and connectivity to neighbouring developments. The project will support the opening of railway arches and seamlessly connect Chapel Street to New Bailey.

  • The work consists of the following:
  • A raised pedestrian crossing
  • Footway and carriageway kerbing and surfacing works
  • Street lighting and electrical works
  • Drainage works
  • Landscape improvements
  • Signage and line marking
  • As we are now moving into the next stage of the works a planned full road closure will be in place on Gore Street from 9am Monday 21st March until 9pm Friday 25th March (5 days). This will allow us to keep the public and our contractors safe while completing the necessary resurfacing.

This work will be carried out in two phases. During the first phase alternative access onto Gore Street will be made available via New Bailey Street and the no-entry on Gore Street at the New Bailey Junction will be temporarily suspended. This will allow for access only to residents and businesses on Gore Street.

Once the junction of Gore Street and Trinity Way is complete, access from Trinity Way will be reopened. This will allow the second stage of the works to commence at the junction of Gore Street and New Bailey Street and the no-entry at this junction will be reinstated.

A diversion route will be in place via Irwell Street, Gartside Street and the A34 New Bailey Street with diversion signs being posted on site. However, pedestrian footways will be accessible at all times.

We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Yours sincerely,
